Andrew Pisetzner, OD

Newport News Optometry

Dr. Andrew Pisetzner joined the team at Hampton Roads Eye Associates in 2021.  Dr. Pisetzner practices comprehensive eye care.

Dr. Pisetzner received his Doctor of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University. Before that, he earned a Bachelor of Science in biology at Susquehanna University. After receiving his Optometry degree, he served as the resident doctor at Seidenberg-Protzko Eye Associates in Havre De Grace, Maryland where he gained a wealth of knowledge treating and managing a wide variety of chronic ocular diseases including dry eye, cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. He also managed emergent issues such as conjunctivitis (“pink eye”), chalazia / styes, retinal detachments, and retinal artery occlusions. Dr. Pisetzner also had the opportunity to stay up-to-date with the latest in ophthalmic research as a subinvestigator in clinical trials. He created written case reports and presentations.

Dr. Pisetzner’s interest in optometry began in high school. In his physics class, he was particularly fascinated by the way light interacts with the eye, which led to a shadowing opportunity with his own optometrist. Dr. Pisetzner helps his patients understand what’s going on with their vision, and provides them with strategies to maintain eye health, manage vision loss, and improve their daily quality of life.

Dr. Pisetzner enjoys outdoor activities like biking, hiking, and visiting Busch Gardens. At home, he spends time cooking, reading, and watching a good TV show. He is particularly interested in digging into Virginia’s history and is happy to be closer to his grandparents who have lived in Williamsburg for nearly 20 years.
